De Bruyne Tells City Fans What To Expect After Stunning Goal Vs Brighton

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has told Man City fans not to expect a similar stunning goal he scored against Brighton next time because it’s not something he’s really good at.

The Belgian dominated the headlines after scoring his first ever Premier League headed goal in style. The midfielder has scored a load of goals since he joined Manchester City, but none of these goals was a header.

He, however, gave Pep Guardiola’s men a deserving first of lead against Brighton on Thursday by scoring a slick diving header in the 17 minutes of the Premier League match.

Phil Foden scored a brace and Julian Alvarez also got his first league goals since January to seal a 4-0 win away and put more pressure on the Arsenal that occupy the top spot on the league table.

Speaking after the match, Kevin De Bruyne insisted that he’s not good at scoring a diving goal; therefore, such a situation doesn’t happen too often.

“It’s not something I am good at!” the Manchester City midfielder said during the post-match conference.

“It doesn’t happen too much. Kyle [Walker] gave a good cross and I think the only way I could reach it is by jumping to it. I will take it but it’s not something I am good at!

“It was a good game. I think we played really good in the first-half and every game is a lot of pressure. All we can do is prepare as we did today and win the game that is in front of us.”

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is one of those who will like to see a similar goal from Kevin De Bruyne. The City boss after the match said his midfield maestro is always welcomed to try the header again.

“It was a great header. He’s more than welcome if he wants to try it again,” Pep Guardiola said while answering questions after the match.

De Bruyne’s Header Compared To Robin Van Persie’s Famous World Cup Goal

Kevin De Bruyne’s header continues to generate reactions from the football world and in his comment, Sky Sports Pundit, Jamie Redknapp, said the goal looks similar to Robin Van Persie’s incredible goal for the Netherlands at the World Cup against Spain.

According to him, De Bruyne’s ability to do things differently is what set him apart from the rest of attacking midfielder, stating that he wasn’t expecting the Belgian to score such a fantastic goal. Therefore, the City midfield general is well above the likes of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, David Silva, and Yaya Toure.

“Kevin De Bruyne, we’ve seen some greats, like [Steven] Gerrard, [Frank] Lampard, David Silva, Yaya Toure, unbelievable attacking midfielders, he’s the top one for me,” Redknapp said via Daily Mail

“He does things that are out of this world. The passes that he has seen throughout his career, since coming to the PL, there are not many that can do that. He can score all types of goals I didn’t expect diving headers. I’m in awe of him every time I see him.”
