De Bruyne Or Odegaard? Ex-Premier League Star Picks Best Midfielder

Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City and Martin Odegaard of Arsenal have enjoyed a remarkable football campaign with their individual clubs, sparking debate over who truly reigns as the best midfielder in the Premier League.

The Arsenal captain has emerged as a prominent figure, guiding Arsenal to victory in Premier League fixtures and aiming to win their first league title in two decades.

Kevin De Bruyne, on the contrary, was notably absent for a significant portion of the season due to a hamstring injury sustained in the first match against Burley. The Belgian did not make his return to the field until January 2024, which means he missed the first-half of the campaign.

Despite his injury setback this season, De Bruyne seamlessly picked up where he left off before getting injured. He has made a significant contribution to City’s victories, often single-handedly securing wins for the Sky Blues and maintaining their chances of achieving a domestic double.

Recently, Manchester United legend, Gary Neville claimed that Martin Odegaard is the best midfielder in his position in the League but former Arsenal player, William Gallas disagreed with him, stating that Odegaard is not yet at Kevin De Bruyne’s level.

“In terms of the best playmaker in the Premier League, you can’t put Martin Odegaard in front of Kevin de Bruyne yet. De Bruyne is still the man – he is one level above,” Gallas told Gambling Zone.

“Kevin de Bruyne has shown he is the best for the last three or four seasons. He is resilient. When he came back from his injury, his performances reminded everyone of just how special he is as a player. There were no doubts if he was going to get back to his level, so he deserves credit for that in itself.”
