Manchester City may be at risk of losing one of their players to the Spanish La Liga, as reports suggest that Bernardo Silva is ready to join Barcelona during the summer and would favor a move to Spain rather than France.
The Portugal international has developed into one of the best midfielders in the world after his breakthrough year at Benfica and AS Monaco. Since his move to Etihad Stadium, Bernardo has become a significant player that Pep Guardiola is unwilling to let go.
However, the City boss may have no option than to say goodbye to the Portuguese. Bernardo couldn’t wait to leave Manchester City for Barcelona and follow in the footsteps of IIkay Gündogan, Sergio Agüero, Eric Garcia, and many other City players.
A football journalist, Gerard Romero, claimed that Bernardo Silva’s representatives are working to make his move to the Spanish giants smoothly. Romero claimed that Bernardo is ready to take a reduced wage to make his dream of playing for Barcelona a reality.
Other Clubs Battle Barcelona For His Signature
Meanwhile, despite his desire to join Barcelona, many other clubs are said to have shown interest in signing the midfielder.
Paris Saint Germain (PSG) are another option for Bernardo. The Ligue 1 giants are desperate to replace the outgoing Kylian Mbappé who will likely join Real Madrid in the summer. Therefore, the Manchester City midfielder is one of the players identified as a potential replacement for the France international.
Real Madrid and Arsenal are other clubs linked to Bernardo Silva early this week. The Spanish team who eliminated Manchester City from the UEFA Champions League last week due to the inability of Bernardo and Kovacic to covert their spot kicks during a penalty shootout plan to sign the City star player as a replacement for the aging Luka Modrić.
Arsenal, on the other hand, want to sign the midfielder to give Mikel Arteta many options at the middle and to their young squad benefit from Bernardo’s experience.
