Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish has confirmed that he doesn’t have an X (formerly Twitter) official account like many of his colleagues at Man City and like other footballers.
The English footballer, who moved to Manchester City for a club-record fee of £100 million, has frequently faced media scrutiny. As a result, he found it intolerable to endure the barrage of offensive comments directed at him on social media platforms, ultimately leading him to opt out of Twitter completely.
Although Grealish has played a significant role in Manchester City’s recent achievements, he often faces criticism from football enthusiasts and experts regarding his goal-scoring statistics. The ex-Aston Villa player’s G/A contributions are notably lower than those of other players in a similar position.
This campaign, the Englishman managed to score 3 goals and provided another 3 assists in more than 30 appearances, although frequent injuries contributed to his ineffectiveness.
In comparison to his rival at Manchester City, Jeremy Doku, despite this being his first season in England, he has netted 5 goals and provided an additional 8 assists to outshine Jack Grealish.
“In this day and age, you can have a bad game and it can be all over social media or the newspapers,” Jack Grealish said during an exclusive interview with Sky Sports. “You look at the top players over the years, Messi, Ronaldo, that is one thing they had more than anyone else in the world.”
“Even now I don’t have Twitter because you see so much stuff on there you don’t need to see written about yourself. When you see or hear a lot of it, it can start creeping into your mind.”

The Manchester City midfielder responded to criticism from Graeme Souness regarding his playing style and perceived lack of impact on the team, despite the significant investment made to acquire his services.
Speaking about the Englishman performances just a year after joining Manchester City, Souness described the winger as a good player but not a great one and did not show any sign of improvement.
“I don’t know what his problem is with me,” Grealish fire back while responding to the criticism. “He always says stuff about me. Listen, he was obviously a great player and won a lot but I don’t know what it is with what he says about me or what problem he has got. I know my own ability.”
