FA CUP: Man City Will Defeat Chelsea 3-0, Progress To Cup Final

Man City will defeat Chelsea 3-0 in the semi-final of the Emirate FA Cup on Saturday, according to former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton. Pep Guardiola’s team will be determined to retain the title, which they won last season against Manchester United, and are expected to advance to the final by defeating Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Manchester City suffered a defeat in midweek against Real Madrid, which resulted in their elimination from the UEFA Champions League. The Cityzens were defeated during a penalty shootout with the Spanish giants. Contrary, Chelsea showcased one of their most outstanding performances this season during Monday’s match against Everton. The Blues emerged victorious with an impressive 6-0 scoreline, as Cole Palmer – a former player for Manchester City – netted four goals.

The Cityzens will undoubtedly be eager to return to their winning form and avoid experiencing losses in two separate cup competitions within such a short span of time. Meanwhile, Chelsea must secure a victory if they hope to have any chance of obtaining a trophy following their defeat in the Carabao Cup final and current position at ninth place on the Premier League table.

Ahead of the game, Chris Sutton, commended his former club for their improvement in the last few weeks. He, however, believes that they will be defeated by Manchester City and will go trophy-less this season. The former Chelsea striker made the prediction in his column for the BBC.

“Chelsea have shown a bit more consistency in the second half of the season with an eight-game unbeaten run in the league that has put them in the race for sixth place.”

Chelsea are yet to suffer a loss against Manchester City this season. Their initial Premier League encounter ended in a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, while their second match resulted in a 1-1 stalemate at the Etihad. Nonetheless, Sutton is confident that the outcome will differ on Saturday, predicting a triumphant 3-0 score for Pep Guardiola’s men.

“Pochettino will want a trophy to underline their improvement, but I think it will be City who progress. I am backing the holders to flex their muscles again, go again… and win this tie quite comfortably.”

Chelsea Versus Manchester City Recent Cup Showdown

Manchester City have remained unbeaten in all cup competitions against Chelsea following their defeat to the Blues in the UEFA Champions League final back in May of 2021. The Cityzens have successfully eliminated Chelsea from every knockout stage they’ve met throughout various cups.

In November of 2022, Chelsea were eliminated from the league cup during the third round. The Cityzens secured a well-deserved triumph at Etihad Stadium with a 2-0 win, courtesy of Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez’s goals.

Last season, the Blues suffered a crushing defeat of 4-0 at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s squad during the Third Round of the FA Cup. The standout performers were Julian Alvarez and Riyad Mahrez, who both managed to score two goals each.

They won the trophy last year and will aim to replicate the success by sending Chelsea parking this Saturday, and eventually secure the trophy for a second consecutive year.
