Man City 5-1 Wolves: One Of Erling Haaland’s Four Goals Was ‘Cristiano Ronaldo-Like’

Manchester City have moved one step closer to clinching the Premier League title following a commanding 5-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Erling Haaland was the standout performer of the match, netting four goals, with one of his goals being likened to a typical Cristiano Ronaldo’s finishing.

The Norwegian delivered a stellar performance in the first half of the match, possibly his best of the season. He opened the scoring with a penalty kick at the 12-minute and followed up with a second goal at the 35-minute, showcasing a remarkable header of Cristiano Ronaldo’s style.

Jamie Redknapp said he felt the Manchester City striker leaped like a ‘big Norwegian salmon’ for his second goal while his fellow Sky Sports Pundit, Jamie Carragher commended him for finding the far corner and gave the goalkeeper no chance of preventing the goal.

“Wolves were not quite organised, a delightful cross from Rodri and Haaland’s leap is unstoppable,” he said, added that “[Haaland’s second goal was] Cristiano Ronaldo-like, and he finds the far corner.”

The Norwegian proceeded to secure his hat-trick in the first 45 minutes by converting a penalty kick, awarded after being fouled by Nelson Semedo within the penalty area.

It seems the visitors will fight back in the second half after finding the back of the net through Hwang Hee-Chan in the 53 minutes to make the scoreline 3-1. The Sky Blues, however, responded within a minute as Erling Haaland made it 4-1 before he was replaced by Julian Alvarez.

The Argentine netted the final goal of the match in his 100th appearance for Manchester City. Following the win, Pep Guardiola’s team are now 20 matches unbeaten in the Premier League. They were last defeated in December 2023 against Aston Villa.

Manchester City will return to action against Fulham next weekend while Arsenal their close rivals in the title race will travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United the following day.
