Man City To Spend £80 Million On Kalvin Phillips Replacement

Manchester City are reportedly ready to spend huge in the forthcoming summer transfer including a potential £80 million on Kalvin Phillips replacement following the England international departure from Etihad in January.

Kalvin Phillips was bought as a backup for Rodri at heart of City midfielder. The Englishman, however, failed to impress Pep Guardiola and couldn’t secure his place in the first team, not even as a backup player for his Spanish compatriot.

Therefore, he was sent on loan to West Ham United in January with the hope that the Hammers will make the deal permanent in the summer. As a result, Pep Guardiola will need a replacement who would be good enough to come on for Rodri.

According to 90min.com reporter Ben Jacobs, The Cityzens are in a better position to sign Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and are ready to pay up to £80 million for his service, although he has a £100 million release clause.

Jacobs claimed that the Magpies will be ready to listen to offers for their midfielder and will not stop him from moving on if an appropriate agreement was reached with Manchester City or any other clubs.

Guimaraes will be a great addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad, particularly his ability to play as number 6 and 8. And the deal if materialises will give Rodri a deserve rest he has been clamouring for.
