‘Yes’ – Portuguese Player Tells Man City He Wants To Join Barca

A Portuguese player Joao Cancelo who had incredible years during his days at Manchester City has finally confirmed that he would like to permanently leave the club at the end of the season.

Man City player join Barcelona

Cancelo now on loan at FC Barcelona was an important player at the Etihad before falling out of favour and lost his place to Rico Lewis in a new Pep Guardiola’s tactical set up last season.

He left City for Bayern Munich on a mid-season loan in January 2023. The Bundesliga giants failed to make his move permanent. He returned to City at the end of his loan spell and was even part of the Premier League champions’ pre-season tour, but he wasn’t included in Pep Guardiola’s match-day squad at the start of the season.

Therefore, on the day of the transfer deadline, Cancelo decided to join Barcelona on loan and has been an important player at the club as he reunites with many former Manchester City players.

The Portuguese player has scored four goals and provided three assists in 30 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona and he will like to make the deal permanent.

Also, the Barcelona sporting director, Deco, and club president Joan Laporta have made public comments about their desire to sign the Portuguese player.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Cancelo made his desire to remain in Barcelona public when he attended the screening of Ronald Araujo’s documentary. A journalist asked if he would prefer staying in Barcelona for another season and he answered “Si, si” (Yes, yes) without even a minute of doubt.

The situation now comes down to whether Barca can agree a suitable deal with Manchester City and can afford to sign the Portuguese international on a permanent deal.
