World-Class Midfielder Rejects Real Madrid, Other Clubs, Ready To Join Man City

One of the best midfielders in the Spanish La Liga this season, Savinho, has revealed that he would like to play for Man City ahead of the Spanish giants Real Madrid and many other top European clubs who have shown interest in him.

Savinho opens to join Man City

The Brazilian is having arguably the best season of his career at Girona. Savinho was initially signed by the City Group on a €6.5m move from Atlético Mineiro to Troyes in the summer of 2022. He spent his first season in Europe on loan at PSV, and last summer, was sent to the Spanish team.

Since his debut at Girona, he has registered his name as one of the best midfielders in the League this season. He has seven goals and seven assists in 25 appearances and helped his side to be in contention for the League title.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, Savinho was asked if he would like to play for Pep Guardiola’s Man City despite the interest from many other European clubs, and he stated that it was his dream to wear the Cityzens’ Sky Blue kits since he was signed by the City Football Group.

“Yes, yes. I think that when I was signed by the City Group, I had the ultimate goal of arriving at Manchester City,” the Brazilian said.

“But as I said, each player will go through his own process, his own storm in football that he has to go through, which is normal. It’s something that’s bad but good at the same time, that in the future you’ll know why you went through it.”

He, however, said there was no contact between him and Pep Guardiola or the Man City board yet, stressing that at this moment, he is happy to be at Girona.

“To date, I’ve had no offers from Manchester City, no contact. But I’m happy to be on the internet. Because it reaches me. People ask me on the internet too, they ask my family. But I’m focused on Girona,” the midfielder said.

“I want to achieve my goals here, personally and as a team. And that’s it, I’m focused here. The window is open, and in the middle of the year it will open too, so I’m focused here and I want to stay here.”
