‘We’re Not Favourites’ – Bernardo Silva Tells City Fans Brutal Truth

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva says without a doubt they are no longer the favourites to win the Premier League title this campaign despite their efforts to win the trophy for the fourth consecutive time.

Many football pundits have claimed that Manchester City remain the team to beat in the League this season. They were described as clear favourites to lift the trophy and create an unbeatable record.

However, things might have changed for the reigning champions following the 0-0 draw against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. And Bernardo Silva was truthful enough to admit that they are no longer in charge of the title race.

Speaking after the match, the Portuguese said they now depend on the weekly results of Liverpool, the league leaders and Arsenal matches to determine their fate as far as the title race is concerned.

“Let’s be real, we are NOT the favorites for the title now. We will not play against Arsenal and Liverpool and they are ahead of us in the standings so we are dependent on what happens with their results,” Bernardo Silva said during the post-match interview.

The midfielder also admitted that Arsenal have improved, explaining that Mike Arteta’s side have gained a lot of experience and are full of young talented players.

“It was tough because we played against a top, top team, very well-organised, very competitive, high rhythm.

“It was tough to play against them, man-to-man when they were pressing high, and when they were defending low, their wingers were playing like full-backs, almost in a line of six.

“So, it’s never easy to play against teams who defend this well when high pressing and when defending deep, so connected.”
