Phil Foden has revealed that the success of the club this season will largely depend on the fitness of one of his teammates who has become the fans favourite with his performance over the year.

The Englishman said undoubtedly, Kevin De Bruyne is needed ahead of the crucial period of the season, stating that the team seriously needs him if they will add to their silverware.

De Bruyne was out with a hamstring injury for the whole first part of the Premier League season. He returned to the pitch during a comfortable 5-0 win over Huddersfield over the Weekend. After recovering from the injury, the City fans and his teammates, especially Phil Foden will hope that he’s fit for the remainder of the season.

Although Foden has done incredibly well to fill the space vacated by De Bruyne in the heart of the City midfield. He has recorded 10 goals and 8 assists in the League so far, but without De Bruyne, it will be difficult for the team to win more trophies after the Super Cup and the Club World Cup glory.

“If we’re going to win anything, we need him at it,” said Foden. “Everyone was buzzing to have him back, he’s one of the best players in the world, no one can do what he does.

“You could see the stadium roaring when he came on and it just shows how big and important he is for us. To have him back on the field, it gives us a lift as well.

“I am delighted for him to come back and hopefully he remains injury free because we need him.”

Meanwhile, the Belgian commended Manchester City fans for recognising how important he is to the team.

“It was a special moment because obviously they appreciate what I’ve done for the club,” he stated regarding the atmosphere at the Etihad Stadium when he came on against Huddersfield.

“To get that ovation after being away for five months gives you more of a boost to do well and hopefully I can do that and we can enjoy more moments like this. It was really nice for me.”
