Two Man City Players Leave National Team, Ready For Arsenal Clash

Two Man City players have been sent home from international duty as the reigning Premier League champions are preparing to take on the league leader, Arsenal at the Etihad immediately after the break.

Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva, and teammates

Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva left Portugal’s training camp and returned to Manchester after their impressive performances against Sweden in their opening international friendly match.

Portugal defeated Sweden 5-2 and Silva was one of the assist providers while his teammate Matheus Nunes was one of the goal scorers and Dias performed excellently at the heart of their country’s defence.

After the comfortable victory, Portugal’s national coach, Roberto Martinez, confirmed that eight players would return to their respective clubs ahead of their final international match.

According to Portuguese outlet B24, both Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva have now left Roberto Martinez’s Portugal national team camp, along with six other members of the squad.

Nélson Semedo, Toti Gomes, Palhinha, Bruno Fernandes, Rafael Leão, and Gonçalo Ramos are the other players sent to their clubs and wouldn’t be available for selection against Slovenia.

The return of some Man City players earlier than expected is a good development for Pep Guardiola who will hope to have a full squad fit and ready to play against Arsenal.

The Cityzens will welcome Mikel Arteta’s squad to Etihad on the 31st of March. A win for the host will give them a two-points lead advantage over their London rivals, while Arsenal will extend their lead on the table to 4 points if they can secure all the three points against the reigning Premier League champions.
