Tottenham vs Man City over the years has become an interesting match and fans will likely witness another epic encounter when the Spurs host the defending champions in the Emirate FA Cup fourth round on Friday.
Former Manchester City player, Pedro Porro will be among the talents to watch during the match and the defender has revealed how he felt playing against his former club. The Cityzens signed the defender from Girona in 2019, before selling him to Sporting CP in 2022.
During his days at the Etihad, he was not given enough opportunity to prove himself by the City boss, instead, he was sent out on loan to Real Valladolid and Sporting, who then made his stay permanent.
Ahead of the FA Cup clash, the fullback admitted that he was not fit into the City system and Pep Guardiola decided to let him go. He, however, said he would approach the match or any Tottenham vs Man City encounter with ‘great enthusiasm’.
Asked if the encounter is in any way special to him, Porro said: “However you want to look at it. They signed me from Girona and that love for trusting me at that moment, even if I didn’t fit into their plans later, does make it a little special for me.”
According to him, he only needs to wish his former teammates all the best ahead of the match. “Our paths separated, I wish them the best and me to continue with my life,’ he said.
The Spain international was quizzed if he regrets his decision to join Manchester City and discovered that he was not good enough to play for the team.
“No. At that moment what happened, happened, and as a result of that, I’m the player I am today. If they saw that I was not ready for the Premier League at that time, I respect their decision,” he responded.
