Tottenham 0-1 Man City: Player Becomes FA Cup Hero, Now Guardiola’s Weapon Against Top Teams

A Manchester City player becomes an FA Cup hero as the Cityzens finally got a deserved result at White Hart Lane after many years under Pep Guardiola. The victory finally put a stop to the inability of the visitors to find the back of the net at the Stadium.

Nathan Ake - FA Cup hero

The defending champions had never scored at Spurs’ new ground, losing all five games dating back to 2018 and it seems the curse will continue until Nathan Ake managed to break the deadlock in the 88 minutes.

The defender now becoming an FA Cup hero after a similar display last season that knocked out Arsenal out of the competition. The Netherlands international scored the only goal of the fourth-round match against Arsenal in 2023 and did the same against Spurs a year later.

“There is not one person in the locker room that is not very happy for him [Ake]. We are happy for the goal and how he controlled one of the most dangerous players in the Premier League now in [Bukayo] Saka.

“As a manager, you want players like Nathan. He deserves all the good things in life,” Guardiola said after the match against the Gunners.

Guardiola’s claim that Ake is a very important player to his squad was seen at the White Hart Lane. He not only carried out his defensive duties diligently, but he also came to the rescue of the team once again.

Speaking ahead of the game, Guardiola admitted he has struggled to understand why their form has been so poor in north London.

“It happened at White Hart Lane – not just this stadium. We play good – but not able to win. It’s happened many times but hopefully we can break it,” he said.

The Cityzens were the best team on the pitch once again, they dominated from the Start and even had a goal ruled out for offside.
