Phil Foden has undoubtedly developed into a world-class player and has earned the praises of some football pundits who now compare him to the great Barcelona and Spain football legend, Andrés Iniesta.

Phil Foden during Man City vs Sheffield United match

The Manchester City player graduated from the City Academy and like Iniesta, he has received some valuable lessons from Pep Guardiola as he developed to become one of the fantastic players of the modern days.

His versatility is one of his numerous advantages over his pairs. The Englishman can perfectly operate in almost all the positions up front. He was once a striker for Manchester City but now Pep Guardiola seems to prefer playing him on the wing and in the middle in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne.

Despite his ability to play different roles, he enjoys playing in the middle most and this is where he has been compared to Iniesta who bossed the Barcelona and Spain midfield while playing at the top level.

Phil Foden during the Premier League match against Aston Villa on Wednesday scored three goals, including a brilliant free-kick to ensure that the Cityzens are not far off the Premier League top spot head of another epic title race.

His third goal of the match has generated reactions from the football world, not only that, but his overall performance caught the attention of Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand and a former Manchester City player, Joleon Lescott.

Mail Sport reported that TNT Sports, host Laura Woods, said both former Premier League players were chatting Iniesta whenever Foden was in possession of the ball during thr match.

“Every time you got the ball, these two were screaming Iniesta constantly. It was very embarrassing sitting next to them,” she told Phil Foden during the pre-match conference.
