The City boss commended his players, claiming that they are the reason for the success of the club in recent years and they will be ready to produce more fascinating moments because they have some fire inside them and this always pushes them to want to compete at the highest level.

Manchester City are in the crucial stage of another campaign. They have added two trophies; the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup to their title collection this season and are still fighting to add more.

In the Premier League, they are just a point off the league leaders Arsenal and are in the semi-final of the Emirate FA Cup where they will meet Chelsea, they are also in the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League, preparing to take on Real Madrid.

Determined to defend all the trophies won last campaign, the Cityzens will hope to defeat Arsenal on Sunday. With a victory against the Gunners, Pep Guardiola’s men will move up the league table with two points above their visitors and the result of the match between Brighton and Liverpool will determine who top the league table.

Speaking ahead of the match, Pep Guardiola claimed that it was not easy to keep winning every season, stating that the mentality of his players is the reason for the success.

“I think it comes from inside themselves. After eight years, I don’t have to motivate them every three days – it doesn’t work like that unfortunately,” he said in the pre-match conference.

“They have something inside – some fire – to compete or else we would not be here. I say a thousand million times that the biggest reason behind our success is the players and their desire to extend the success.

“They set the benchmark for the future generations. I couldn’t imagine we would be here after all these years and every year be in the top three, FA Cup semi-finals and the Champions League. It’s so complicated and it’s really good – really good.”
