On Sunday, Manchester City and Arsenal were unable to get a desired result from their Premier League match. While Arsenal were expecting a victory at the Etihad Stadium for the first time in many years, Manchester City fought for a victory to boost their chance of retaining the League title.

However, both teams couldn’t secure the important three points and were forced to settle for a point which gave Liverpool the advantage to take charge of the league and emerge as the team in the best position to win the League.

With nine games left to play, Pep Guardiola believes Liverpool will do everything to remain at the top and keep a three-point gap between them and Manchester City which City in third position and 2-point game between them and Arsenal.

Guardiola was asked at his post-match press conference if Liverpool are now the clear favourites to win the title, and he replied: “Yes. Always who is first is the favourites, second is Arsenal and we are third.

“It was in our hands, now it’s not. All we can do is think of Aston Villa (on Wednesday). If you are top of the league – like we’ve been before – you are favourites.”

Manchester City have failed to beat any team among the current top-five teams in the league, they were defeated in their first-leg match against Aston Villa. The Cityzens were without their midfield maestro, Rodri during the match.

However, they are expected to secure all three points on Wednesday to at least keep their title hope alive.
