Pep Guardiola Names Man City Player On Kevin De Bruyne Level

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola named another Man City player who can singlehandedly win a match for the team like Kevin De Bruyne. The City manager during his post-match conference after a comfortable 5-0 win against the Championship side, Huddersfield, said Erling Haaland is another special Man City player in the squad with a similar threat to De Bruyne.

The Cityzens welcome De Bruyne back to the pitch for the first time since August 11 when he injured his hamstring in the first Premier League match against Burley. The Belgian made a stunning comeback after nearly five months out. He grabbed an assist just 17 minutes after coming on for Julian Alvarez on Sunday, January 7.

He came off the bench in the 57th minute with his team 2-0 up at the Etihad Stadium and set up Jeremy Doku for the final goal of the match as the FA Cup defending champions made the afternoon a difficult one for the visitors.

In his words after the match, Guardiola praised the midfield maestro, claiming that he could win a match for the team, and named Haaland as another Man City player who can be relied upon to win a game.

“He played really good minutes. He needs to accumulate training sessions more than games. We are incredibly delighted he is back. Kevin helps to win games and there are few in the world. Win games; Kevin, [Erling] Haaland, these guys win games,” the Spaniard said as quoted by Sportskeeda.

“We have known each other for a long time. He has a special special ability to do something that is not easy to find. With all the runners we have now, to have a guy who can find these passes, Kevin is exceptional, he is unique; the quality of the assist for the Jeremy goal.”

Guardiola before the match had insisted that De Bruyne would not be involved for the whole 90 minutes yet. He said the Midfielder will need time to come back to his best and that they need to be careful not to complicate his match fitness process.

“There is enthusiasm in the first minutes, ‘Wow, I’m going to play’. You have to be careful with that. You have to speak with him but especially with his doctors, physios, and the guys who knows what the minutes should be and the best processes.”
