‘No League In 20 Years’ – Pep Guardiola Says Ahead Of Arsenal Match

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola claims that the lack of a league title in 20 years will motivate Arsenal to be at their best during a visit to Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The City manager claimed that the Gunners will have something to prove during the match.

While Arsenal will hope to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table, Pep Guardiola’s side will be determined to increase their chance of winning the fourth consecutive league title. A win for the home team will give them a two-point advantage over the London club.

Also, Manchester City are the clear favourites to emerge victorious to win the match and eventually win the title. However, Arsenal will want to prove their worth and want to win the title for the first time in 20 years.

“You could say Arsenal have not won the Premier League for 20 years so will have something special to prove it – we know that – always when Liverpool and Jurgen challenged us so always they give you something special,” Guardiola said during a pre-match conference.

The City boss claimed that the appearances and support of City fans will be an added advantage to his side. He said their supporters will surely replicate what they did when Manchester United visited the stadium a few weeks ago.

“What we have to do is be ourselves with our people – the will being something special on Sunday, I’m pretty sure – just like they did against United to help us make a good performance.”

Pep Guardiola said the past success of Manchester City will have no effect on their performance against Arsenal and subsequent display against Aston Villa.

“The past is the past – what we have to do is win against Arsenal and then Aston Villa in the next game.

“You cannot think about what happened in the past because it’s a new day. It’s important we did what we did, but I didn’t expect to arrive after the international break and be where we are,” he said.
