Mikel Arteta Urged To Use This Brilliant Tactics Against Man City

Mikel Arteta will once again face his former boss as Arsenal will travel to Etihad Stadium on Sunday to take on the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

Arteta send message to Arsenal fans ahead of West Ham match

Arteta who left Manchester City to take charge of Arsenal emerged victorious in the last encounter between his side and Pep Guardiola’s men. He will hope to do a double against the Cityzens in the league when they meet on Sunday.

However, beating Manchester City for the second time will be a difficult task, particularly considering the fact that the match will be played in City’s backyard where they have not lost a single match in many months.

Also, many previous visits to the stadium by the Gunners have all resulted in defeats. Pep Guardiola’s side are a different and unbeatable team while playing in front of their home fans.

Speaking ahead of the Sunday match, Gael Clichy has warned Mikel Arteta to avoid relying on counter-attacks and allow Manchester City to take absolute control of the match. He claimed that counter-attack tactics might not work against the Sky Blues and this may result in heavy defeat for the Gunners.

According to him, Arsenal should put the pace on City from the beginning and avoid allowing their host to gain control of possession.

“Arsenal need to have the courage to go to their place and say, ‘We are going to be in your face.’ Not many teams have managed this, the only two are Liverpool and Arsenal,” the former Arsenal and Manchester City player as reported by Sportskeeda.

“I think it would be a terrible mistake for Mikel to try and play on the counter and leave the ball to Manchester City. You can let them have some of the ball because they’re at home but you must play your own game.”
