Man City Take Crucial Step To Stop Their Superstar From Leaving

Man City have decided to block any potential interest from European clubs that may tempt Phil Foden to consider life outside his boyhood club. The Premier League champions are ready to make the Englishman one of the top earners in the English top-flight league.

How Man United helped Man City to win treble explained

Foden has improved his game and has become a favourite for Manchester City or even the Premier League player of the season. The 23-year-old has scored 18 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions for the Cityzens this campaign.

The talented midfielder was commended for his performance during last weekend’s Manchester derby. He scored two goals to bring his side back into the game after conceding an early goal. His brace and a goal from Erling Haaland were enough for the Cityzens to claim a 3-1 victory against the local rivals.

The England international was rested during the midweek UEFA Champions League match and is expected to be in the starting eleven when Man City travel to Anfield on Sunday.

As a result of his recent performances, there are speculations that Real Madrid are ‘working hard’ to ‘persuade’ him to join them in the summer.

The report explains that Real Madrid’s chief scout Juni Calafat is making the signing of Phil Foden a priority for the club next season.

However, football insider reported that Man City are ready to open a contract discussion with their star player even though he still has more than three years remaining on his current contract deal.

His current contract of about £200,000 per week expires in the summer of 2027, however, the Englishman and Man City will be open for discussion which will increase his payment and keep him at the club for many more years to come.
