Man City Suffer Fresh Kevin De Bruyne Injury Scare As Guardiola Gives Update

Manchester City might be forced to deal with another Kevin De Bruyne injury blow following the report that the Belgian intentionally withdrew from Tuesday’s Premier League match against Brentford due to a fresh injury scare.

Kevin De Bruyne injury

De Bruyne was absent from the first part of this Premier League campaign as a result of the hamstring injury he sustained during the first game of the season against Burley in August 2023.

He, however, made his way back into the City starting eleven after recovering from the operation which took him more than four months. The Belgian returned as if he never left, scoring and assisting his teammates as the Premier League title race becomes interesting.

In his last eight appearances in a competition, the midfield maestro has registered 7 assists and 2 goals. However, he couldn’t contribute to Man City’s 1-0 win against Brentford as he was advised to remain on the bench to prevent sustaining another injury.

According to a report by Goal, speaking at his post-match press conference, Pep said: “He has niggles in his hamstring area and I didn’t want to take any risk with him. He’s OK, he’s OK, it was more about prevention. He said he didn’t feel comfortable and the doctors said not to take a risk.”

While Manchester City may not be able to cope with another Kevin De Bruyne injury setback, Pep Guardiola insisted that the Midfielder is in perfect condition, stating that his omission against Brentford was more of a precaution, therefore, there is nothing to worry about.

Undoubtedly, the battle for the Premier League title race will require all Manchester City players to be fit, particularly as the team have many important matches to play in the coming weeks.

The Cityzens will welcome Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium on March 3 before travelling to Anfield a week later. They will also host Arsenal on the 31st of March which will complete a busy month for the reigning Premier League champions.
