Without a doubt, Manchester City and the Premier League can boast of having many football talents but none of them could be compared to the Belgian midfield maestro, Kevin De Bruyne, according to Bacary Sagna.
The former Arsenal and Manchester City defender described De Bruyne as the most talented player in the Premier League and named him the best among his peers.
Sagna said he knew that the City star would be instrumental to Pep Guardiola’s side in the second part of the campaign but he didn’t expect him to pick form immediately after he returned from the injury that kept him out for more than four months.
Speaking to Paddy Power, Sagna was full of praise for his former teammate: “Kevin De Bruyne is a magician. He’s the best player in the league so to have him back is a massive help to Manchester City. I didn’t expect him to be so fit and make an instant impact. He can do anything, he’s a joke, honestly!”
The former City player had an incredible football career, playing with and against some of the most brilliant players of this generation. However, none of these could be described as a complete player like De Bruyne.
“I’ve never seen a player so complete. I played with good players and against good players, but he has all the qualities required to be very professional,” he said.
“He’s a winner and he hates losing. He has character and he puts the ball wherever he wants with his right foot, he has common sense and every choice he makes will be spot on.”
Sagna compared De Bruyne’s abilities on the pitch to his former teammate Santi Cazorla, he said, “I’ve never seen a player like him. He and Santi Cazorla are the best players I’ve ever played with.”
“It was so easy to use both feet, outside of the boot, floating passes, through balls. They can play passes to the millimeter. De Bruyne ticks all the boxes but for me, his professionalism is the key – he wants to win, and he wants to be the best.”
