Walker has owned up to his action, describing his extra-marital affairs as a regrettable mistake. He seeks forgiveness from his wife Annie Kilner whom he has three children with and is expecting a fourth. The couples were not on good terms following the report that the Man City captain fathered a second child with model Lauryn Goodman.

After the recent interview with The Sun, many supporters called on Pep Guardiola to immediately strip the England international of the City Captain’s armband.

talkSPORT presenter Shebahn Aherne said: “What does Pep do? Does he give him the captaincy again? He’s not a good leader, he’s not a good example, he’s a poster boy.”

Similarly, fan X account @City_Chief said: “We are calling for the immediate resignation of Kyle Walker as Captain. This is unacceptable behaviour and goes against our club values!”

@BlueFanFromHull also posted: “Children will be looking at Kyle Walker as a role model and when they see his off-field antics. What a professional to look up at! Time for a change in captaincy and sit down with Kyle and the club to address these personal issues.”

The defender during the interview admitted to having decided to quit playing for Manchester City in the summer. He said he wanted to join Bayern Munich to escape from the scandal but changed his mind after he shared his problem with Pep Guardiola.

“Did I want to leave City? No, of course I didn’t. We’re the best team in the world at the minute. But it was a chance to get away from England and the media I was going to get.”
