The Premier League defending champions managed to secure all the three points even though their host put on impressive performance in the last 45 minutes and were unlucky not to find the back of the net.

Man City started the match as the favourite and the Pep Guardiola’s men in the first-half was fantastic. Erling Haaland had a couple of chances to put the City in front but the opening goal eventually came when Phil Foden comfortably tap in Erling Haaland shot that hit the Bournemouth goalkeeper.

City had many other chances to increase the goal in the first-half but were not clinical enough in front of goal and they nearly paid for this in the second-half.

Undoubtedly, Bournemouth were the better side in the later part of the encounter, putting City players under pressure as they searched for an equaliser which never came through the game, therefore, they were forced to accept defeat.

At the 84 minute, Kevin De Bruyne returns to the pitch after missing out against Brentford due to what Pep Guardiola described as precaution against another hamstring injury.

The Belgian who was not available for the first part of the campaign returned from over four months injury in January and sustaining another injury at the crucial moment will be a big blow to City. However, the fear were eliminated when he came on for Mateo Kovacic with less than 10 minutes to play.

City will turn their attention to the Emirate FA Cup scheduled to take place on the 27 and welcome their bitter rivals, Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium in their next Premier League match on 3rd of March.
