Luton 2-6 Man City: Haaland Creates Unbelievable Records, De Bruyne Shows Class

Manchester City played arguably their best match of 2024 in a 6-2 victory against Luton Town. Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne once again showed why they are world-class players as their host failed to find answer to their incredible talent.

Haaland and teammates

While Haaland scored five goals, Kevin De Bruyne served as his supplier. The Belgian played him through on goal on different occasions during the match and was rewarded with four assists.

Within the first 40 minutes of the match, Haaland has found the back of the net three times. He scored at the 3, 18, and 40 minutes, all these goals were assisted by De Bruyne.

They continued where they left their performances in the second half as the Belgian international assisted Haaland once more to increase his goal to 4. The last goal for the Norwegian was assisted by Bernardo Silva. Mateo Kovacic who joined the Cityzens from Chelsea last summer added one more goal to complete the six goals for the visitors. He scored a powerful shot from outside the box.

Meanwhile, Jordan Clark may have been the headline story with two sublime goals against the defending champions but, once again, Haaland stole the limelight with his incredible performance.

With his five goals, Haaland became the first City player to score five goals in an FA Cup clash since Frank Roberts way back in 1926.

He also became the first City player in history to score five goals in a game on two occasions, after managing the feat in the side’s 7-0 demolition of RB Leipzig back in October.

Manchester City will hope to replicate today’s performance next weekend when they welcome Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League as they battle with Liverpool and Arsenal to retain the title for the fourth time in a row.
