Leroy Sane Regrets His Action At Manchester City

Former Manchester City forward Leroy Sane has expressed sorrow for a decision he made while at the Etihad Stadium.

The 28-year-old has appeared in all three matches for Germany during their European Championship campaign thus far, and the forward hopes to capture international silverware this summer after a trophyless season with Bayern Munich.

Sane signed for Bayern Munich from Manchester City in 2020 for £54.8 million, returning to the German top flight after coming to the Etihad Stadium from Schalke for £37 million in 2016.

The forward made 135 appearances and scored 39 goals for the Sky Blues, winning a total of seven trophies, including two Premier League titles.

Sane made just two appearances during his final campaign with Manchester City, but did win the prestigious PFA Young Player of the Year award during the 2017/18 season at the age of just 22.

He even has the celebration of a Manchester City goal against AS Monaco tattooed across his back, something Sane has revealed he now regrets getting done, during an interview with Der Spiegel.

“I was young. Today I would make a different decision,” said Sane.

“I was someone who had to run into the wall at least once, even if it hurt, in order to learn from it, especially at a young age. I was surprised that this topic was so big in the media, I was still a real youngster. In Germany there were much more important players than me, and yet this tattoo was still being debated.”
