Kyle Walker - Man City captain

The England international started for his national team in a 1-0 defeat to Brazil. Walker was given the privilege to lead the England squad as he was given the captain armband.

Unfortunately for the defender, he couldn’t enjoy the day as expected as he was forced off thr pitch with an injury and was replaced by Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa.

The Manchester City captain after the match took to his Instagram page to show how disappointed he was and gave an update about the injury crisis.

“Frustrating to come off injured in last night’s game especially when captaining the side. A truly great honour.” he wrote, accompanied by a series of pictures from the game with the armband – as well as hobbling off and touching the hamstring.

On when he will return to the pitch, Kyle Walker said: “Hopefully it’s nothing too serious and I’m back ASAP.”

England national coach Gareth Southgate also hopes that the injury is not too serious. He, however, said the situation will the player will be examined by the medical experts to know the condition of the City captain.

According to Manchester Evening News, Southgate said: “We don’t know yet [on Walker’s injury]. He is feeling something but he is not a player that is injured very often so he is not quite certain what it is so we will have to assess it over the next couple of days.”

An unexpected injury to Kyle Walker could be a major setback for Manchester City determined to retain their league, Champions League, and FA Cup titles. The Cityzens will welcome the Premier League leader Arsenal to Etihad days after the end of the international break before playing Chelsea at Webley in the Emirate FA Cup semi-final.

In the Champions League, the Sky Blues will take on Spanish giants Real Madrid in the quarter-final, therefore, the fitness of every player, particularly their captain will be important at this crucial stage of the season.
