Pep Guardiola, Manchester City boss has disclosed that anyone that to sign Erling Haaland should approach the club for business because only the club can decide to keep or sell him.
There are speculations surrounding Erling Haaland’s future at City. The sensation striker has become a target for many European top teams, particularly Real Madrid which is ready to splash a stunning £170million summer swoop for the Norwegian.
Haaland has been described as the alternative for the Spanish giants should their plan to sign Paris Saint Germain attacker, Kylian Mbappe, fail.
However, Pep Guardiola insisted that he would like to have the striker for many more years at Manchester City but any team that is interested in his signature should approach the club for business.
Speaking about a fresh contract for the strike, Guardiola said: “It’s going to happen when Erling decides to extend the contract or not.
“When the club decides to extend the contract or not, or when we have potential offers for him or not. If someone wants Erling it’s easy – call Manchester City and ask.
“That’s what we do when we want to sign someone. It’s not complicated. I know from my chairman, sporting director, CEO, and other people that we want to keep our best players.
“To be there [at the top], we need good players. We’re not going to win games just because I’m sitting here as manager and we’ve had success in the past.”
Haaland signed a five-year deal with City after joining them from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 for £55m and had an incredible first campaign, helping the City to their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy and a domestic double.
