Guardiola Speaks About Erling Haaland Frustration, Failure To Score

Pep Guardiola has reacted to the failure of Erling Haaland to find the back of the net despite having a load of chances to do so during the Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Erling Haaland

Undoubtedly, his performance against the Blues could be described as one of his worst performances since he joined the Cityzens from Borussia Dortmund one and a half years ago.

He had nine chances, at least three of the chances would have resulted in goals if he had been clinical enough. At the end of the match, Haaland was visibly frustrated. He swiped away a Sky Sports camera and left the pitch with his shirt over his head.

Speaking during his post-match conference, Pep Guardiola insisted that he is not the right person to give goalscoring advice to Erling Haaland because he was not a good goalscorer himself during his days as a footballer.

The City boss stated that missing chances is part of the game and he knew that Haaland would soon return to his best by probably scoring in the next match.

“Next time he’s going to score,” Guardiola said at his post-match press conference. “I was a football player and I played 11 years and scored 11 goals.

“One goal a season. These are my stats. So I’m not a proper man to give advice about the striker and what they have to do.

“We create the chances, he had the chances and in the next game, he is going to score. Absolutely [I believe that]. It’s football, he’s a human being.”

Manchester City will welcome Brentford to Etihad Stadium on Tuesday and will be hoping to secure all three points which will lift them to the second position one point behind Liverpool and a point above Arsenal.
