Guardiola Receives News About Oscar Bobb Before Selling Cole Palmer

Oscar Bobb is undoubtedly one of the most upcoming talents to watch out for in Manchester City and his decent performance for the Cityzens against Newcastle United over the weekend did not surprise the City Manager.

Pep Guardiola revealed that he was informed about the quality of Bobb and his performances at the youth level which earned him a promotion to the first team.

The Manchester City manager was asked for deeper thoughts on the rise of Oscar Bobb after the Norwegian scored the winning goal during the stoppage time against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

“Oscar… So, Txiki (Begiristain) at the end of the season said to me that Oscar Bobb in the second team under-23s was the best player by far. And I said, ‘OK, come to Japan, start to train with us’, and immediately Oscar got something that is the most important thing; the reliance of his mates,” Guardiola said during the post-match interview.

“It’s more important than the manager! When the mates can say, ‘OK, this player can play with us’, that is the best triumph, the best success, and it was immediately. He can play in five positions; striker, right-wing, left-wing, the pockets. He’s so dynamic, the work ethic is unbelievable.”

The Catalan claimed that Oscar Bobb at this moment is happy with the minutes played just like Cole Palmer was before he started requesting more playing time. However, if Bobb decided to stay with City, they can say that there is a player for many more years to come for the Sky Blues.

“Now he’s happy for that minutes, Cole Palmer was happy with that minutes, but after one to three years, it’s ‘I want more!’ And it’s natural, it’s completely understandable, and maybe I don’t give them that minutes, and they decide to go there! If he decides to stay, we have a player for many, many years!”

Oscar Bobb has had a great season so far, his winning goal against Newcastle United was the first Premier League top-flight goal. Also, he had his debut in the UEFA Champions League this season.
