Guardiola Gives Reason He Was Surprised By Man City Players’ display

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said he was full of surprise with the performance of Man City players against Bournemouth. The City manager labelled his players as supermen as they continue to get the job done on the pitch amid the very tight schedule.

The Cityzens were involved in five matches in the last 14 days. They welcomed Everton to the Etihad Stadium on February 10 and played Copenhagen three days later before a 1-1 draw with Chelsea and back-to-back 1-0 victory against Brentford and Bournemouth.

While Man City players were forced to endure a difficult second 45 minutes against Bournemouth as the host were undoubtedly the better team in the later stage of the match, Phil Foden’s goal at the 24 minutes was enough to secure all the three points.

With the points, Pep Guardiola’s side have kept their title hope alive as they were just a point behind Liverpool who sit at the top of the table.

Speaking after the match, Pep praised Man City players’ resilience and ability to fight to the end even when they were visibly tired. He claimed that they have done incredibly over the years playing many games and putting on impressive displays when people believe that they will fail.

“They are supermen. What can I say? The demands for the calendar, for everything, for the expectations, they are so high. What they have done many, many years with a lot of games, many things and always you believe they will fall down, not continue to do it and they surprise me every time,” via Manchester City’s YouTube.

The City will be in action again on Tuesday. They will play against Luton Town in the Emirate FA Cup and a win will mean that they still have the opportunity to win a treble back-to-back as they were in a better position to progress to the Quarter Final of the UEFA Champions League after defeating Copenhagen 3-1 in the first leg.

After the FA Cup clash comes the Manchester derby as they would welcome the Red Devils to Etihad on the 3rd of March.
