Guardiola Fires Back At Man United Legend After Criticising Man City Team

Pep Guardiola will not let the outsiders decide the style of play for his Manchester City team, therefore, the the opinion of Manchester United legend Gary Neville will not count in his book.

Neville had during his Stick to Football podcast said he refused to watch the Man City match against Copenhagen in the Champions League this midweek because he felt the Cityzens were boring to watch.

Although he claimed that City play outstanding football but the entertainment that usually comes with matches has been neutralised by the frequent domination of Pep Guardiola’s side, so there is nothing special about their matches.

Gary Neville was absolutely right according to statistics which show that City always dominate their opponents. They had over 70 percent ball possession in their last four matches including the winning against Copenhagen.

Meanwhile, to Pep Guardiola, the matches might seem simple to the people but as a coach and former football player, he knew how difficult it was first his player to defeat their opponents.

“I had the same opinion before the Copenhagen team. It’s a really difficult team to attack if you are not perfect in many aspects of the game. If we didn’t then we cannot achieve what we did last Tuesday,” the City boss said ahead of another Premier League clash with Chelsea.

“I am going to tell you something, in the future you will not forget. It looks easy, but it’s not. Remember that sentence, it’s easy but it’s not.

“Sometimes [for] people it is not enough what we are doing,” he added. “But I know how difficult it is, from my experience as a manager in the other clubs and when I was a football player – to show that consistency, after winning the treble still we are there and see how we fought for each other.

“At the end, it depends on us, how satisfied we are. That is what belongs to us. If people don’t appreciate it, it doesn’t matter. It’s not a big, big problem.”
