Guardiola Discloses Why Foden And Cole Palmer Are Special Players

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken about his experience with Phil Foden and Cole Palmer as the duo graduated into the City’s first team from the academy.

The City manager claimed Both Foden and Cole Palmer have the same belief in their ability to put the ball in the back of the net. He stated that when the two players were first alone to train with the senior squad, he had the feeling that they were players with eyes for goals.

Despite being one of the best players for City this campaign, Pep believes Foden can still improve his game, although he’s already a world-class player.

“He’s young and can improve. Always I have the feeling that Phil (Foden) always has the sense of goal, always has this sense of he can score,” Guardiola said in a post-match interview after a victory against Bournemouth.

“I met him when he was 16-years-old coming to training with us, a little bit like Cole Palmer; when they arrive there, always I have the feeling that they can score. And Phil has this incredible ability, he has this incredible ability to do it.”

Meanwhile, while Phil Foden and Cole Palmer graduated from the City Academy, Phil was patient enough to develop under Guardiola and become an important player at the Etihad, Palmer on the other hand left last summer due to lack of playing time.

Palmer joined Chelsea having failed to break into City’s starting eleven. He has however become an important player for Mauricio Pochettino at the Stamford Bridge.

Therefore, he has no regrets about his decision to move on from the reigning Premier League champions.

“Who knows what would have happened had I stayed… maybe I would have played more, maybe not. But the decision to move to Chelsea, so far, is paying off,” he said as reported by Sky Sports

“It was a really tough decision, and I didn’t know what I was going to do. But with the competition that’s there, the players they have, d those they were going to sign, I made my choice”
