Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland has revealed that whatever the pundits or any other critics say about him has little or no effect on him. The Norwegian like many other players was criticised during his early days in Manchester.
After he had a quiet game in a 1-0 defeat at Tottenham, Jamie Carragher, said the former Borussia Dortmund player might have landed in the wrong club, claiming that he was getting enough service to become a top striker as expected.
Meanwhile, Erling Haaland surprised all his critics with a record-breaking 2023, winning five major trophies with his new team and coming behind only Lionel Messi in the Ballon d’Or ranking.
In his recent interview with Nettavisen, the Premier League player of the season for 2022-23 said: “I decide little about what others think and write about me. I do not care much about that. I’m just trying to do my job, which is to help my team as best I can. Sometimes it’s scoring, and sometimes other things.”
To him, the Premier League is special because of the competition when compared to the Bundesliga and many top European leagues. He highlighted some important matches he played in his first season, stating that the atmosphere at Anfield, the Manchester Derby with Man United, and that night at Istanbul were memorable for him.
“The fierce competition in the Premier League with so many good teams makes the league very special. Arsenal pushed us all the way. The atmosphere at Anfield. The Champions League anthem in Istanbul. I have always dreamed of that moment [winning the Champions League]. The derby matches against Manchester United. There are many highlights,” Erling Haaland said.
