De Bruyne Sends Warning To Man City Rivals After His Masterclass Against Newcastle

Kevin De Bruyne said Manchester City are ready to go again for the league and probably win the title for the fourth time in a row. A feast no one in the entire history of the English league has ever achieved.

De Bruyne vs Newcastle United

The Belgian had to come to the rescue of his teammates to secure all the three points at the St James’ Park after Newcastle United were leading with just 25 minutes left to play.

He came on in the 70 minutes, scored in the 75 minutes, and provided the match-winning assist in the 90+1 minutes to send the Cityzens to two points behind the title rivals and league leaders Liverpool FC.

“It was crazy,” De Bruyne said, speaking about his performance in his post-match interview with TNT Sport. “I missed this. I had a big injury and I needed the time. I enjoyed myself and I worked hard and to come into this stadium, this environment, and [being] behind… it [the comeback] was more willpower than anything.”

The Belgian admitted that he would need enough time to gain his full match sharpness. The Midfielder played his Premier League match since August 11 when he sustained a hamstring injury in a match against Burley.

‘It was more willpower than sharpness,” he continued. “I know I’m not able to do that for 90 minutes at the moment. I know I can put in a shift, 20/25 minutes at full pace and I feel it in my lungs with the cold. It can’t be any better than this, can it?”

According to him, Manchester City will do everything to fight for the title, and being just two points behind Liverpool will motivate the team to keep going in the title race.

“We want to try and compete again for the league and we are up there with the other teams. To win here, at St James’ Park against a really good Newcastle, is a tough game,” De Bruyne said.

On his body, he said: “I don’t know what to expect and I have not experienced this [a long absence] in 14 years that I have been playing football. Like I said, I worked really hard and tried to change a couple of things because I had the time and being able to change things, when you play all the time it’s very difficult to do. I found a couple of things and I hope I can maintain that.”
