City Vs Arsenal: Pep Guardiola Confirms Injured And Fit Players

Pep Guardiola and his men will welcome the league leader Arsenal to Etihad Stadium in the return fixture of this season’s Premier League encounter. The Cityzens will have the opportunity to go above the Gunners while Mike Arteta’s side will have a chance to extend their lead above the reigning Premier League champions.

Arsenal occupy the first position on the table with a goal difference above Liverpool at the second position, Man City remain the third just a point behind them.

With a few games left to play, the weekend clash between Arsenal and Manchester City could be the title decider, therefore, both teams will have to be at their best to get a favourable result.

However, many Premier League superstars might be unavailable due to injury crisis and this could impact the outcome of the match. The Cityzens might be without some of their best players, particularly those who sustained injuries during the recently concluded international break.

Confirmed Injured Players

Kyle Walker

The Manchester City captain sustained what appears to be a hamstring injury during the friendly match between England and Brazil. The defender will likely be unavailable on Sunday since he did not train with the rest of the squad on Thursday.

John Stones

Similar to Walker’s situation, the England defender sustained injury against Belgium while on national duty and will likely miss the match against Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola confirmed that some of his players have returned to training and are in contention to play a part on Sunday. The players include:

Jack Grealish

The winger reportedly trained with the rest of the squad on Thursday and may be selected to start on Sunday. However, Jeremy Doku will easily take his place if he is not fit for the match.

Manuel Akanji

The Switzerland international player was sent back to England from the national duty earlier than expected. It was reported that he sustained a minor injury while playing for the national team. Fortunately, he took part in City’s training session on Thursday and will likely start against Arsenal.

Matheus Nunes

Nunes could not complete the international break with the Portugal national team. The midfielder was withdrawn from the team and wasn’t available for their last friendly match. Like many other City players, Nunes took part in the Thursday training session and could play a part on Sunday.
