Both Liverpool and Arsenal had failed to catch up with Manchester City in the previous Premier League title race, and a talented City player has reminded the two clubs of what happened in the past as they all battle for another title.

Man City defender John Stones said Arsenal and Liverpool need to know that Pep Guardiola’s side are the only team playing with a precious gold badge on their shirt sleeves as the defending champions, therefore, they are ready to go again this season.

Last season, Arsenal succumbed to pressure in the later part of the campaign despite being at the top of the league table for many months. With just a few matches left to play, Manchester City reclaimed that top spot and eventually went on to carry the league title and added another two trophies to complete a record-making treble season.

Similarly, Liverpool had found it difficult to win the League due to the incredible performances of Pep Guardiola’s team. Even though the Reds are the main competitors of the Cityzens in the league in recent years, they can only boast of having a league title.

Manchester City on the other hand won three consecutive league titles and planning to make it four this campaign. John Stones who has become a prominent City player claimed that the remaining 10 games of the season are finals to the Cityzens and they will show why they are the defending champions.

“We have the gold Premier League badges on our shirt for a reason and we want to defend that. We’re proud to be the champions and we want to do it again and again,” the defender said via Daily Star.

“We know there are 10 games left and a lot to play for. The best thing we do is concentrate on us and the next game coming up. Every game is a final for us – that’s how we treat it. Going forward, we’re excited.”

Man City will be hoping to claim all three points when they host the league leader Arsenal at the Etihad at the end of the month after a thrilling 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield last Sunday.
