Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is hoping that two experienced players in his team will be fit on time to play against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

Real Madrid was once again paired with the Premier League giants in the European competition which means the clubs will have to play against each other for the third consecutive year.

Interestingly, a winner between the two clubs have gone on to win the competition in the previous two years. Real Madrid emerged victorious in 2022 and won the competition and Manchester City did the same in 2023.

While City are the favourite to progress to the next round, Carlo Ancelotti described the match as equal and hopes to have some of his injured players back on time for the encounter.

The Real Madrid boss wishes to have center-back Eder Militao and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois back as the duo remain important players and would play crucial roles in the team’s success this campaign.

The two world-class players suffered potentially season-ending ACL injuries in the summer but there is a possibility that they will be back in action before the campaign ends. According to Sportskeeda, Carlo Ancelotti would like to have both men available for the first leg at the Bernabeu on April 9.

Speaking after the draw, Pep Guardiola insisted that to win a competition like the Champions League, they would have to play against the best teams and Real Madrid are undoubtedly one of the best in the competition.

“When people say draws are easy, you undermine the other opponent but it’s not necessary to say what Real Madrid are in this competition. When you play the latter stages you play against the best teams in Europe and Real Madrid are totally there.”
