Bernardo Silva Names His Next Club After Leaving Man City

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has confirmed that he would like to retire at Benfica, claiming that it has been his long-time ambition to play for the club before the end of his football career.

The Portuguese international has become one of Pep Guardiola’s favourites at City and the City manager was unwilling to let him join other clubs despite interest from the top European team.

Bernardo Silva continues to repay the trust of his boss with incredible performances almost every week. He was arguably the City player on Saturday when the reigning Premier League champions welcomed Newcastle United to Etihad Stadium.

The Cityzens defeated their visitors 2-0. Bernardo Silva scored both goals and sent this side to the sixth consecutive semi-final in the Emirate FA Cup competition.

The Portuguese career began at Benfica and it will likely end at the club following his determination to return to once again represent the team before he quit playing football.

“Is it a long time before I return? I think people are a little tired of that question. There’s already more time left. I’m sure I’ll be back, I don’t know when,” Bernardo Silva told SIC according to The Mirror.

“It’s difficult to time it and say if it’s in two, three if it’s for the year with Roger Schmidt [laughs]. But I’ve said it several times and I think people get tired of hearing it: without a doubt, it’s a career and life goal to return to Benfica.

“Get me into something difficult position. On the one hand, he asks me to return to Benfica, and on the other, he asks me to say bad things about Benfica’s coach. Imagine that I come back next year and he is my coach. It can’t be [laughs].”
