Arsenal are said to have interest in Joao Cancelo and are willing to bring the defender to Emirate Stadium after a fallout between him and Pep Guardiola.

Premier League winners between Man City and Arsenal predicted

The Portuguese defender who had incredible years playing for the Sky Blues was offloaded by the club on two occasions. He was first sent to Bayern Munich on loan before a similar move to Barcelona.

It was reported that the Joao Cancelo had issues with Pep Guardiola who preferred playing Rico Lewis or center defender at his position after the 2022 World Cup. The defender was said to have an attitude problem and this got the City manager furious and this situation forced him to leave the Etihad to Bayern in January 2023.

In the summer of 2023, Cancelo joined Barcelona and has become one of the best defenders at the club. He has also made his intention to remain at the club known while speaking about his future.

However, the Spanish giants might fail to meet the £40 million that Manchester City are demanding for the defender, therefore, a possible move to another club in the summer is very possible.

Arsenal is one of the clubs that Cancelo could join following the report that Mikel Arteta has shown interest in the defender and would like to work with him.

The Sun reports that the Gunners have been alerted to Barca’s unwillingness to pay more than a loan fee for Cancelo and Manchester City’s previous successful transfer deals with Arsenal be of advantage for the London club while negotiating with their Premier League rivals.

Both clubs had successful transfer business in recent memory. The Cityzens sold Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus to the Gunners and both have contributed immensely to the team. Also, Mikel Arteta in charge of Arsenal once worked as an assistant manager at Manchester City, therefore, another business involving Cancelo is very possible.
