Pep Guardiola could have a Manchester City record breaker Norwegian striker available for selection in the next Emirate FA Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur at the White Hart Lane stadium. Haaland for the first time in many days was seen training with the rest of Man City squad.
The striker since he joined the Premier League champions has become a very important player at the Etihad. He has become a record breaker, setting records after records in 2023 which could be described as the most successful year in the club’s history.
Unlike last season when he played almost all the City matches, the Norwegian has suffered injury setback this campaign. He last played for the treble winners in a match against Aston Villa on December 6, 2023.
He has missed nine matches but he could return against Tottenham Hotspur following the report that he was seen in training on Monday, although it’s unclear whether the record breaker completed the full session.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola will hope that Haaland’s fixturing in training again is different from what happened in the late December when he returned to training in Saudi Arabia during the Club World Cup but was later withdrew after suffering setback in his recovery process.
“A little bit of disturbing problems in his feet,” the City boss explained on 12 January, before confirming he hoped the Norwegian would return to training during the club’s mid-season trip to Abu Dhabi.
“Hopefully at the end of this month he’ll be ready. It was a little bit more than we expected in the beginning. It’s a bone, it needs time. Every injury you can do whatever you want but it’s a question of time.”
Also, the England international player, John Stones, has returned to training during the trip to the Middle East. The defender last played for the City in a Premier League match against Everton late December. Like Haaland, he’s in contention for a place in the matchday squad against Tottenham.
