Another Man City Player To Join Barcelona In A Surprising Transfer Deal

Barcelona are interested in the signature of another Man City player in what could be described as a surprising transfer deal between the two clubs.

Man City player join Barcelona

The Premier League champions and the Spanish giants have enjoyed doing business together in recent years, particularly since Pep Guardiola became Manchester City manager.

Players like Ferran Torres, IIkay Gundogan, Sergio Aguero, and Cancelo have joined Barcelona from the Etihad in recent memory. And another Man City Player could follow in their footsteps during the current transfer window.

According to The Telegraph, the Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona have now joined the race, along with Crystal Palace and West Ham, to sign the £45m rated Kalvin Philips from Manchester City.

The midfielder has struggled with life at Etihad having failed to secure a position in the City starting eleven. At first, he hoped to fight for his place and eventually gain the trust of the City Manager, but the failure to make an appearance for the Cityzens even sometimes when his competitor, Rodri was not in the squad meant he would need to try playing elsewhere.

And while Newcastle United recently emerged as the favourites to sign the Englishman on loan, it was gathered that Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and many European clubs have shown interest in the midfielder.

If Phillips does leave, Guardiola has revealed City could dip into the transfer market and sign a replacement. “Kalvin is a player with us, I don’t want to anticipate absolutely anything,” he said when asked for an update on Phillips’ future.

“Everyone knows the situation he has. It depends if it happens. If it happens we talk. The market in January is not easy… We still have incredible things to play for, and after we decide.

“Right now I don’t have anything in my mind. It depends if they leave or don’t leave. Some players stay, and some players leave. It depends on the squad, it depends on young players, and if you can rely on them or not in some moments.”
