Speaking during a new interview with Spanish outlet Cadena SER, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Mitchel who guided Girona to top four in the Spanish La Liga, prayed to avoid Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League next season not only because of the connection between the two clubs, but an attempt to avoid any potential humiliation.
“Any team you are talking about at the level European, from Bayern to Juve, are teams that I have seen on TV every Wednesday and makes me excited,” he said.
“I would not like Manchester City to be our rival because we have some connection and apart from that, I do not want to suffer.”
The Cityzens were eliminated from the competition in the quarter-final by Real Madrid this campaign. The defending champions were unable to overcome the Spanish giants despite all the efforts to secure a victory during the return leg at the Etihad Stadium.
